Funeral services will be Sunday, February 5, 2006, at First United Methodist Church - The Chicago Temple, 77 West Washington Street, Chicago, IL 60606. Gladys is preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Florence Bell Bolling, three brothers, Fred Patton of Los Angeles, CA, John Campbell of Zion, IL, and Thomas Bolling of Chicago, IL. She also leaves to cherish her memory many loving nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She leaves to cherish her memory a brother, Haywood (Jessie) Campbell of Waukegan, IL, two sisters, Ruth Wilson of North Chicago, IL, and Mattie Winfree of Salem, OR her godchildren, Moshe Wilson of Zion, IL, and Joseph Wilson of Washington, DC, Rashaan Campbell of Waukegan, IL, and Ezra Parnell Wilson of North Chicago, IL. She was truly the glue of the family and will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. Her annual Family Recap letter kept the family and others abreast of each other's successes, trials and tribulations. She loved her family from the oldest to the youngest, and she somehow kept in touch with all of them. Her remarkable intelligence was so apparent that if Gladys told you something, you could believe it and if she told you she was going to do something, she did it. She thought deeply, spoke deliberately yet eloquently and the recipients of her words appreciated her insights. Gladys traveled extensively and went everywhere she wanted, loved everyone she could, and was a blessing to all who knew her. She has made a significant contribution to more than 25 other prestigious and prominent organizations, including Northwestern Hospital. She was actively committed to her family, her church, her Alma Mater, Lake Forest College, and to her friends and associates. She received numerous awards and accolades for her service to many of the organizations. She was very active at her church, serving on the Administrative Board, the Pastors Aid Society, the Pastors Parish Relations Committee, the Women's Committee, the Sexual Harassment Task Force and a Chicago Temple Delegate. Gladys was tireless, giving willingly of her time and her talents. Gladys retired from the North Chicago VA in North Chicago, IL, in 1993 after serving as Chief of Social Work Service at Westside VA in Chicago and Bleech Farm Road VA in Pittsburgh. She attended Case Western Reserve University from 1949 to 1951, where she earned a Master's Degree in Social Work. in Sociology, Education and Political Science. Gladys graduated, Valedictorian, from Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, IL, in 1948, receiving a B.A. Gladys moved to Waukegan, IL, after graduation from the Lincoln High School as Valedictorian of the class of 1944. She was born February 14, 1925, in Marion, AL, to Wells and Florence (Foster) Bolling. Bolling, age 80, of Chicago, IL, departed this life on Friday, January 27, 2006.
